The Blue Room

The Blue Room is the trading name of the Performing Arts Centre Society (PACS). PACS' core activity, The Blue Room Seasons, is a curated program of contemporary theatre that offers opportunities for outstanding artists to present new work in an affordable, supportive environment located in the heart of metropolitan Perth. PACS was constituted in 1989 by Perth-based theatre practitioners with the aim of generating increased development opportunities for professional practitioners and encouraging greater communication and contact across the profession. Today, through the passion, energy and commitment of our members and supporters, The Blue Room is a leading arts organization that offers a unique and effective model of resource management and service delivery. The Blue Room Seasons showcase new Australian works by outstanding artists. Other Blue Room activities include: an annual play reading program; professional development workshops; access to affordable rehearsal and performance space and administrative resources; provision of information and support to independent theatre practitioners. The Blue Room also advocates on behalf of independent professional theatre artists for greater opportunities to develop and present new work. The organisation's annual events attracts around 10,000 audience members with 40% of our audiences identifying themselves as being under 35 years old. In addition, the Blue Room has a membership base of over 300 members. The Blue Room is a key organisation of the Australia Council for the Arts' theatre board.
