About
The Mahon Theatre was built in 1996 with assistance from Commonwealth Government funding. The theatre was designed to cater for both the students of Aquinas College, and as a performance space for local community theatre productions.
The Mahon Theatre is available for public hire, when not required for academic purposes, at the discretion of the College. The Venue is ideally suited to a wide variety of dramatic, dance and music performances.
Ample car parking for patrons via the Great Ryrie Street entrance at all hours.
The Mahon Theatre has a raked seating configuration of 14 rows of 22 or 20 seats each (total 300 seats). The rows are designated A – P (there are no rows I or O) , stage to rear of auditorium, and the seats are numbered 1 to 22 (or 20 ) from opposite prompt side to prompt side. There is space in the middle of the theatre for wheelchairs, and six of the theatre seats are removable for additional space. Wheelchair access is via the lane way into the East entrance to the theatre at car park level. Wheelchair seating is located in row K, seats 9 - 14 . These seats are removable if required.
The Mahon Theatre is managed and supervised by Mr. Mark McDowell. Casual technical staff, lighting and audio designers , ushers and kiosk staff are also available at additional charges.
The Mahon Theatre is well stocked with equipment , however no theatre can accommodate all quantities or preferred brands of all our clients. With this in mind we have set up good working relationships with a number of hire companies and , at P.O.A., can offer extremely competitive rates on most equipment.
