There are many types of Children stories

There are those about adventures, and hijincks, and escapades and solving mysteries

There are stories about children who gather in a
group and do brave deeds

There are stories that start stories start with ‘Once upon a time’ or sometimes “a long time ago” or very occasionally “Mr and Mrs Dursley of Number 4 Privet Drive”

There are those about lovely children who do lovely things and have
a lovely time and are really quite, quite lovely

And then there is the Sad ballad of Penny Dreadful which is none of the above

The Sad Ballad of Penny Dreadful

A sweet tale about a Sweet Little girlÂ…Not

The Sad Ballad of Penny Dreadful is a gothic "tall" story - a macabre cautionary tale inspired by the works of Hillaire Belloc. The show promises to be high spirited, side splitting, laugh-a-minute, hammer-horror promenade for kids and their families.

This is Mainstreets's third co-production with Windmill performing Arts and has become an annual January Holiday tradition for South Australian families. Previous seasons of Moonfleet and Boo! Sold out. Book early to ensure your family shares this magical experience
