Dave, a long-term patient in a private hospital, relishes the opportunity to indulge in a little “stirring” when Sol, a much younger man with a knee injury, is admitted into his ward. The result is an outbreak of anger from the new arrival that Dave relishes but Sarah, the ward nurse, struggles to contain. The initial antagonism of the two men mellows into a surly tolerance, and finally a need for each other, as they discover that despite their superficial differences, they have more in common than they would like to admit. The play is a funny and moving look at the complexities of male bonding.
This is a script in hand reading of a new play that is going through the SAWT development process.
The play is offered along with a light lunch of soup and crusty rolls.
