Written in 1971, Don’s Party is a classic of the Australian theatre. It’s a snapshot of the lives of a bunch young professionals, who gather hoping for a Labor victory in the 1969 election. Described as “a boozy, brawly romp”, Don’s Party captures the hopes and disappointments of people moving from the idealism of university life to the humdrum routines and responsibilities of suburbia. Widely regarded as Williamson’s best, it’s bitingly funny, desperately bleak, and brutally accurate. This play contains adult themes and coarse language.
