The Australian Ballet began life fired by the passion of a handful of people who had a dream. This is a dream since shared by thousands of dancers, choreographers, designers and enthusiasts who have come to share the joy of ballet over the past 40 years.
In Beyond 40 Artistic Director David McAllister and Senior Artist Adrian Burnett present these people and their dance. Beyond 40 starts life with footage and highlights from the company's early classics. The stars of yesterday, captured by the camera, will dance again on stage. The stars of today will dance the steps of classic and contemporary masterpieces past and present, featuring excerpts from Beyond Twelve, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Checkmate, Don Quixote, The Merry Widow, Gemini, Alchemy, Divergence, The Deep End, At the edge of night, Nutcracker and Suite en blanc.
